The point of Vibra-Train ( real full body Vibration Training ) is to use your arms and legs evenly in an activity designed to replicate climbing.

The secret was always to look at only using our legs to burn fat, be it walking or running to become fit ( fit = economical ) , as a massive mistake. Only good for times when food was scarce.

Now food is not scarce. Re-introducing full body symmetrical type training is the ONLY logical conclusion.

Check out the research..... the moment we started walking everywhere, our body fat % went up.

All truth passes through three stages....

First, it is ridiculed.

Second, it is violently opposed.

Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Dear Rannoch Donald , Mark Reifkind , Brian Reeves , Mark Davies , David Britten et. al

People wonder why we cant seem to fight obesity. With so many well intentioned people out there. Well had a good example shown to me over the last two days...

A group of "experts" stated Walking long distances was the best way to burn fat. ( train up to two hours a day ) I and Di Heap pointed out walking actually has quite a few contraindication ( especially for the obese ) and is limited to certain global locations and seasons. To hot, to polluted, too cold etc.....

Quite simply .Nice generic idea. That is also clearly ignored by most people.

My stance was simple...... indoor climbing or VT which replicates climbing for those who cant climb. Will be a better future option. And has a great retention rate.

Their response after a while, was not to tell me how VT was limited, but instead show their true colors. Accusing me of making people sit in vibration chairs, or just stand on a vibration plate to lose weight. Selling the "no effort" workout. That cant possible help with fat lose.

Then on Rannoch Donalds own site, continues to infer I sell machines like all the marketers that also sell coffee. And put up videos like this to deliberately mislead people as to what we do...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ue6l7P5lROY

Also calling me this....... JAFA = Derogatory term for people selling vibro plate crap in the biggest city in NZ (Just Another Fucking Aucklander)

Along with pictures of sex toys.

Making sure I could not defend myself by blocking me.

All this AFTER I showed them videos and a website of what we actually do. So you know it was pure dishonesty and not confusion or lack of education. After they knew about fake machines being sold to vulnerable people and how hard I had worked to help the consumer not get ripped off.

After they had a chance to read an article by an academic backing up all those claims.

I always said obesity will never be cured by dishonesty. I stand by that comment more every day.

These bunch of idiots unfortunately represent a large majority of people giving out half assed advice. And when anyone challenges them with a new idea that is beyond them. They at first pretend to be polite, but then resort to bullying or lying to protect their IQ patch.

End note:  They also pulled out the old. " But there is not enough research.". Fair call. Except VT is only a form of exercise. And not one of them could honestly tell me they had researched any form of exercise before they did it..

They relied on experience, perceived exertion and personal results  ...... Funny that. Just like the rest of us laypeople.

Someone recently commented on a forum I tried to act like a saint..... this old article should answer that question.

Yes. Sorry the review guide is for "category / type " of products available. We do not list brands as they change names all the time. And with about 150 brands available.... I am sure you could see the futility of that.

But the categories are always accurate

As you have worked out. You need a Higher Energy Lineal unit.

I will contact Body Shaker and see what is up. I only emailed then a few weeks ago. And got an answer. But yes they are the most  "solid" unit available in Europe. Old school but built like brick shit houses.

I will also see what new feedback I can get about TrueVibe ( designed around the steel power plates of old )

AK Posted On:2015-04-28 13:37:08

Hello,

Just recently discovered vibration training and started investigating and reading up on it and came across your site.

I live in Europe and looking for a  good lineal machine, my problem is i really cant get anywhere in your review section, i see the thumbnails but they are no links to reviews of the depicted machines so no infos to be had there. After that checked the section of recommended machines, only entry for europe were the Netherland based company making the Bodyshaker, tried to mail them but mail failed to be delivered with the error message saying their mail box is full. So any idea if they are out of business also any clue about other trust worthy manufacturers i can contact for a sturdy machine that would be able to handle a high weight load ?

Any and all help appreciated

Millie....

Firstly. Any advice you take. Make sure it is off someone who has actually run a commercial operation before. Centered on weight loss etc... not Physio work.

Companies like HyperVibe are really sales only.  Take any programs or advice with a pinch of salt.

The basic truth...

No matter what the machine. Pivotal or Lineal. It is the numbers and positions that count.

Eg......  Even if the unit was going only 10 hz. That equates to 600 reps per minute.  If the larger muscles in the body are taken to complete fatigue ( usually a "60 second perfect  position" should do this. Anything under 60 seconds will not give the same effect ) And you do 2 - 4 minutes all up during the program. That is super high rep territory. No way the muscles will get bigger at those numbers.

Its why body builders hate Vibration Training.

Note: Do not count any of the "fluff" positions. These are some of the silly ones you see on some of the programs sold with machines. Like one foot on the machine standing sideways etc......

Follow the Pivotal program Di Heap recommended. And you cant really go wrong.

Di Heap/VibePlus Posted On:2015-04-23 12:14:21

Millie

Generally speaking, vibration training does not cause growth in muscle girth, it doesn’t make you big – it makes you strong.  Also female (I’m assuming Millie is female) hormones hold muscle size/growth back.. that said, some people gain some size no matter what they do and will gain a little with vibration training;  but less than with a heavy, low rep weights program .

Did you not receive any training or program information when you bought your machine? Most companies supply this; maybe you bought re-sale.

Here’s a link to a whole body program for Pivotal Machines. What it doesn’t tell you is the exact speeds to use as that will differ by machine brand and your current fitness and health level. Please ensure you know what speeds to use. Note well that arm positions are at very low intensity, much less than legs. Ask us for more help if you need it.

I suggest you use a 2cm approx thick, rubber mat on the platform for arm positions, for comfort.

I should note for the record. Mike Hair had a Pivotal machine that went a true 35hz years ago.

In my opinion and experience. A dangerous mix of ideas.

It is sad so many companies like Power Plate and Galileo, have been resigned to stagnating in R&D. Basically pumping out the same designs that are over a decade old. Too scared to confront the design limitations. Like proper upper body workout.

Eg...... Galileo still using vibration dumbbells.

Power Plate still using straps .

SH@W Science , Honesty @ Work Posted On:2015-04-18 11:03:51
Yes. Total back down on all their previous academic BS.

They are running the machines faster to try and replicate the feeling of Lineal machines. Probably just following HyperVibes experiences.

The blind leading the blind.

The funny side of it is. The are actually chasing the idea of Higher Energy Lineal.

Willie Nugent Posted On:2015-04-18 03:40:51

Hi Lloyd,

i have noticed that Galileo have incresed the the spped of some of their "higher end" models to 36hz.

Is there any new information, science, testing that would support the increase or is this just a marketing ploy as i think you have previously explained that 27hz is the optimal on piviotal machine.

Thanks in advance

Yes good Higher Speed Pivotal. Good company behind it.

Has anyone tried the nitrofit deluxe plus

is this a good machine

These type of places give Vibration Training a bad name

Resurrecting old style experimental equipment back from when some academics were saying vibrations have "magical" qualities. Burn fat, build bone etc..... No hard work required. Just lie there.

Even the old Slender-You products where you lie there and they move your arms and legs etc.....  All proven BS and failed over 20 years ago. Exact same designs.

All been done before. And it will fail. Which they deserve for not telling their customers the whole truth.

Sorry but because so many companies use that name. And some even have 4 different types of machine with the same stickers on, I have no idea exactly what unit your gym has.

Can you please point out the "type" from the review section ? ( read the descriptions and it should be easy to isolate )

http://www.vibration-training-advice.com/consumer-guide-and-safety-program/machine-reviews

From that point we will be able to tell you what the machines true capabilities are.

I have a Full Body Vibration machine from Vibrant health and wellness at my gym.  Is this a good machine to work out on

To whom it may concern, ( opinion piece )

Disclosure: I Lloyd Shaw have no, or ever had any financial ties or dealing with Russell Greene and Russell Berger. My dealings with them was purely based on promoting ethics / consumer protection work founded on common beliefs.

As a Mortician and Fitness Industry leader I take my fight against dishonesty in our industry very seriously. It is my belief only a combination of full disclosure, passionate people and good safe exercise options can help our population regain its health.

My warning........

After having personal contact and working on a project with both Russell Greene and Russell Berger. It is my honest opinion their lack of discipline, personal standards and lack of accountability is the root cause of CrossFit's reputation of unsafe practices.

Their almost psychopathic ability to deny any wrongdoing is a dangerous thing to have in the Fitness Industry. I believe their current mindset would allow them to cover up any incident of uneducated dangerous trainers, accidents or even death, that would interfere with their profit margin / marketing and justify it. Without remorse.

Their willingness to use academics who claim expertise outside their actual experience or qualifications to influence or misdirect the consumer is disturbing.

Universal truths are usually simple, and one that I have learnt is.......

" If the rot is at the top, the rest will surely follow " Lloyd Shaw

It is my opinion it is only a matter of time before a tragedy occurs and regulation will be forced on this industry. It is my hope the regulation comes before the tragedy.

Kind regards Lloyd Shaw NZ

Update on the fake experts opinion on Vibration Training on a Platform ( listed as vibration exercise on PubMed )

When asked why he did not quote any of this research, and the conclusions on every paper released stating no issues with safety ( Considering it was the topic he was discussing in the article ) . This was his answer......

Mr. Shaw,

" You have yet to supply any evidence to counter any statement made in the article or answer the above question other than your own opinion and allusion to undocumented anecdotal reports."

So let me get this right. He wanted me to do his job for him so he could write a balanced article. Isn't an academic  ethical ly obligated to do this anyway. Why would he ask a layperson to do this task.

Or is he claiming he cant access the research ?   Funny I can.

Only two choices come to mind...... Lazy or dishonest. Take your pick.

A direct quote from the Academic Expert Dr. Lon Kilgore on the subject of Vibration Training .

" I acquired two different pieces of vibration equipment in order that our biomechanics, physiotherapy, and physiology groups could work towards developing a systematic and long term investigation into commercially available vibration equipment. I am familiar with the concepts and field "

Two whole machines. And now he is an expert in vibration training enough to write articles.

This is unfortunately typical of academics. Constantly overstating their expertise based on fleeting moments with technology or subjects. I would call them nothing but confidence artists who use the letters after their name to scare people into not asking questions.

Fake Vibration Training Academic Expert Exposed.

A certain Dr Lon Kilgore  .........   http://lonkilgore.com/

He is writing material on Vibration Training Platforms quite obviously trying to pass himself off as some kind of expert on the subject. But typically with only a small amount of investigation, I found out he has zero experience or qualifications on the subject. That's right, none at all.

It would not be an overstatement to say a monkey with access to Wikipedia would know more.

Again just another useless desperate academic trying to stay relevant. Sad , pathetic but unfortunately dangerous .

This is the exact reason people no longer trust academics. And see them as parasites of others hard work. No ethics, no morals. Just a publish or die mentality.

More on him and his "work" to come soon.

But Darren,

Just to give you a chance to prove me wrong. Tell us why the Power Plate Commercial is so good.

As far as I can tell, its the same old machine design. They are still even using straps or cables. They seem years behind even my first machine. But maybe I am wrong.

Also note: The founder of Power Plate left the company and will now only work with steel. Openly rubbishing plastic as inferior.

All ears for you to make your case.

PS.  These are old designs I challenged PP to better. ...still waiting
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpBDfPno7fc

SH@W Science , Honesty @ Work Posted On:2015-03-14 15:57:08
To Darren ( no last name troll. Funny how all PP do that ? Zero conviction )

Yes I am sure I could get more done if I was willing to lie my ass off for a living. But I do not want to peddle BS or be some desperate parasite. So I left Power Plate.

I also swore to protect the consumer. PP is only one company I expose.

As for PP business model. Its been globally liquidated so many times now I have lost count. My company remains intact with all its original upper management.

Studios.....  They set people up to fail. Then ran away. Call me what you want, but I am no greed driven coward.

PS.  If Power Plate had never lied to people out of greed. They wouldn't be getting such a hard time.  I gave them that chance a long time ago. They deserve any negative publicity they get.

Di Heap/Vibra-Train Instructor Posted On:2015-03-14 00:50:31

Darren from Australia

I’m betting you’ve never done a fully supervised training session on a Vibra-Train brand machine.

You’ve obviously never asked the manufacturing price (they are not sold to the public) and you haven’t got the nous to figure out how much solid steel (that Vibra-Train uses) costs.

You might have heard some gossip or something - what evidence do you have that half of Vibra-Train businesses failed, and those that closed, do you know the reasons? Do you know how the Vibra-Train business model works - obviously not!

Do you have any idea how many PowerPlate studios opened in New Zealand and how many there are now? You do know of course, that PowerPlate NZ was liquidated in Oct, 2007 and has popped up in various reincarnations since, each time to die again.

“too much talk, not enough work, Lloyd” - you have no idea how much work is put into the Vibra-Train business and of course into Vibration Training as a whole.

To people who haven’t a clue, I invite them to the Auckland studio for a free session, where in 15 minutes I can change their lack of knowledge plus have their body seriously challenged.

For you, I wouldn’t waste my time. I have no tolerance for people who make unsubstantiated claims and insults but don’t even sign their full name to their post.

Darren Posted On:2015-03-13 20:40:51

You are welcome to your opioion of Powerplate Lloyd and the latest Powerplate commercial machines are far in advance of anything you have on offer, your machines appear like they are made for a few thousand dollars. You spend so much time talking about vibration training you forget to get on with running your own business and growing it, its no wonder more than half of your studios have failed since you began.  Too much talk not enough work Lloyd

John Posted On:2015-03-11 05:46:20

Do not have link handy but go to youtube.com and type "CrossFit The Good Fight" as search.  You will see how corrupt these organizations like NSCA, ACSM, and Richard Beddies Reps are.  They are all connected and doing the same thing. It is odd to me the NSCA is concerned with licensing personal trainers but not strength and conditioning coaches with athletic departments at universities etc.  The reason is there is not the dollars involved as there are relatively few strength and conditioning coaches compared to personal trainers.  The NSCA, truth be told, has never really cared much about athletes and coaches.  They care about money.
