It good for women to really understand how hormonal changes affect muscle and fat and that affects weight.

I’m in the menopausal category and have maintained weight and muscle mass percentage over this year. As an instructor I feel frustrated that I haven’t lost much fat but just as Lloyd has explained – I’m doing great!

Very important for women of all ages to build good quality muscle; supports the skeleton and gives strength/fitness gains. And that bit of extra fat that some of us have – as long as it’s not too much -  it helps with production of estrogen which keeps us young = no wrinkles BUT that’s not an excuse ladies, you must strength train and the fastest, safest way is high-force, lineal Vibration Training http://www.vibration-training-advice.com/machine-reviews

Vibration Training also helps maintain and even build Bone Density

Daisy, some of our clients have seen improvements with protein shakes as protein taken in this form within 20 mins of training can aid muscle repair and growth. You can get some very low fat and low calorie ones these days.

Pearly.....

The massage on the front of the legs was taken out of the program some time ago, simply because it was too unsafe for people with even a slight back injury to get into ( try getting into that pose yourself to see what I mean ) . And we had far too many people not informing us of mobility issues.

Unfortunately we are still in "safe mode"  with this form of training while introducing it to the public, and have to account for worst case scenario all the time.  But as the industry expands I do have other machine designs that fix the problem and is 100% safe.

Daisy...

Yes going through Menopause can make putting on high quality muscle hard work. And since it is by creating high quality muscle, your body burns fat, it feels like you are fighting a losing battle. Your testosterone levels have taken a slide along with your estrogen. But your body will adjust from its hormonal roller coaster ride eventually.

Important point:  Not losing muscle and Not putting on fat is better than going backwards. It is very hard to consistently get results. Especially as we get older.

Note: I have seen great results from active Woman not happy with this situation going to hormonal specialists.  It really depends on your personal beliefs on that issue.

Your legs.....  The quads always show results first because they naturally overload during your squats ( getting your heels down hard helps counter this ). What has happened is your leg muscles have become harder and shrunk slightly leaving your skin lagging behind. Again unfortunately this a hormonal thing as your skin is not as elastic as it used to be. It can take a very long time to catch up to your muscle shrinkage.

Note: A firm massage in the shower with one of those anti-cellulite gloves to the area can also make a difference.

The good news is if you you have noticed firming in the quad muscles you are building new cells. Make sure you push all your major muscle groups as hard as your legs for better results.

Hi Lloyd  I have being training at a VibraTrain studio for the past year and feel as though it is not doing anything for me

I am going through the menopause at this present time does this have any bearing on my not being able to tone up

the only thing I have noticed is the front of my thighs near the knees is feeling slightly more toned but it seems that

the inside of my upper thighs is more flabby,  is there any position I can do to target the inner thigh area

Pearly Posted On:2010-10-30 07:39:14

I am currently going to a Vibra-Train Studio.  My question is why cant I do anti-cellulite massage by lyeing with the front of my thighs in contact with the plate. My hands being on the floor.   The worst of my cellulite problem is on the front of thighs.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-26 19:57:30
Unless there was an already existing issue with the graft, vibration training will be safe. Considering you are running and obviously healed I see no restrictions.

Note: After a decade of use no reports of any type of surgical screw coming loose has surfaced.

Hello all,

Very interesting blog.  I dont know where else to turn for this sort of information so good on all of you for the knowledge you share here.

My question -

Had ACL reconstruction with a hamstring graft 3 years ago.  I can exercise run etc  and all but thought it would be a good time to get earnest with the muscle build up.

I would want to train on my gyms vibration unit following Lloyds protocols but i have this concern,

Wouldnt the vibration effect the graft screws or what have you loosening my acl graft

Thanks for your consideration.

Juliet...

What do you mean. You think we should be more like other financial powerhouses where greed, laziness and stupidity has almost collapsed their economies. Yea right.

Dean Posted On:2010-10-22 09:53:10

Thanks Mike. Thanks Lloyd.

Great tips.

I will keep you posted.

Dean

We first started our studio with pivotal machines and had many clients with MS, the benefits were nothing short of amazing.

One customer when she first came to us had to be driven everywhere by her husband she was only 40, after only one month she was driving by herself and was so pleased with her results she bought one of our old machines when we changed over to lineal.

The biggest thing i guess is to let people know it is not a cure but a treatment so to speak. So continued use is required.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-21 22:22:32
Yes had very good results with MS. With noticeable strength, muscle gain and control. Unfortunately most do not come to use us until very advanced, so it is a long hard fight for them. It is very good she has come in with only mild symptoms.

Poses.......  Whatever is possible for them to do. That will totally depend on how advanced they are with the illness.

Duration.......  Short bursts of 10 seconds at first.  Then building up to a minute .( could take several months, again depending on how they react, it could be a few weeks ) .

Rest ......  Usually only doing the program once a week for the first couple. Then build up from there as they bounce back faster.

Caution.....  Chronic fatigue the day after training is normal. Prepare them for it by telling them to only push it if they have a day off work the next day.

Dean Posted On:2010-10-21 21:12:26

Multiple sclerosis (MS)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_sclerosis

I have a young female patient (age 30) with MS. Her symptoms are rather mild, and are basically some difficulty with general motoric ability from time to time, and blurred vision.
Some papers suggest that vibration training can be beneficial for treating symptoms of this condition, and I think there is physiological logic behind that statement.
Is there anybody who has some experience with such patients? Any suggestions regarding positions, Fq, duration of the training etc.?

I have a studio equipped with Bodyshakers.

Thanks

Well it would seem something very interesting has happened out of this situation.

In fact for our cause it could not get better. Will report on things soon.

MikeHair Posted On:2010-10-20 14:43:37
When asked about being misleading to the public as she did not achieve her body on that machine she responded by saying...

but MOST 'miracle' exercise machine Ad's are misleading ... guaranteed MOST fitness models got their bodies through their own weight training regimes ... it's just an AD + I'm a PAID model”

Exactly the thing we are dead against, making money at any cost regardless who it rips off!!

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-20 12:24:27

I have just publically banned her from ever coming into my studio. And Di put a message up on her Facebook page ( the one she is using to promote that garbage ) so everyone knows why.

MikeHair Posted On:2010-10-20 08:08:38

Now if the Com Com in NZ would get off there lazy arse and do some research maybe it would stop alot more people being ripped off. I cant believe she is still indorsing that product, there is no way in hell i would allow her back in my studio

Di Heap Posted On:2010-10-20 00:29:45

The Gymform VibroMax low speed Pivotal Vibration Machine advertorial on New Zealand Television over the past six months shows a local personal trainer promoting the product, saying it's got rid of her saggy bits and firmed up her butt and thighs.

This trainer has in fact been training at Vibra-Train - on high force lineal machines. She knows the machines are not even similar and she knows her results have not come from the cheap machine yet again she's promoting it .

It think this is a very telling statement, from someone who obviously considers themselves to be business savvy...

"Any good marketer from any business" is not confrontational...

I would suggest all of this goes against what any "good" marketer would do...

(a)  Write articles and give consumers advice on how to successfully buy someone else's products.

(b) Help their competition in any way shape or form. Especially advise on engineering issues on other companies prototypes.

(c) Allow their competition to advertise on a site they owned.

(d)  Allow their competition to come on a forum they run and ask any questions. Or talk negatively about my company.

(e)  Gives permission, supply advice and details for a Thesis, so part of my business strategy can be replicated by anybody.

In fact I would say even releasing machines that do not need replacing every few years, goes against most modern day business practices. Or just maybe my business strategy goes beyond your limited concept of "dog eat dog".

Di Heap Posted On:2010-10-15 16:02:00

And a PhD student did a thesis about us – About Online Consumer Engagement – using the Vibra-train model.

She received top marks and invitations to travel and speak in Europe.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-15 15:47:53
No, I am not a scummy marketer and very proud of it. They are the bain of our industry. Operating out of fear of losing a sale all the time, so end up pulling any stunt to get a payday.

What we do here is called "Online Consumer Engagement "  We have created an online community that agrees with our ideals, and those are the only people we want to do business with. Why would I want to do business with anyone that is too scared of telling the truth ? Hear no evil, see no evil. You cant trust people like that.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-15 13:21:09
And the difference between me and the Com Com. Is that they get paid to do it, it is their job they have failed at.

I do it voluntarily and have already spent considerable time and effort warning the consumer, even writing whole articles and giving people a review to work off for their own protection. More work than any other person in this industry has done.

Unless you can point me in the direction of someone who has done more, you should just be grateful.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-15 12:55:31
I already have listed the active ones that are a present danger to the consumer.

The other list are those who have already ripped people off and will be looking at getting back into the game now things are heating up. My aim is to make sure they are not welcome.

In the mean time I am happy with naming the companies to be aware of.

KM Posted On:2010-10-15 11:43:40

I know I could have used a site like this with all this information and a list of people not to deal with 5 years ago.

We have a show in New Zealand called fair go that is one of the longest running shows on tv. Dodgy tradespeople hate it. Same reason this site is getting flack i suppose.

MikeHair Posted On:2010-10-15 11:24:46

Great article on cancer Lloyd, i am so glad we have you as the worlds leading authority on vibration training writing articles, as if it was left up to these halfwits that come on here to try and disredit you, it would have fallen over long ago...

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-14 20:33:51
Regarding the cardio equipment mixed with vibration.  Check out these guys  http://www.versaclimber.com/

Military tests showed a slight positive response. But too ambiguous to follow up on.

See here for just a few versions of a vibration bike.....

As I said Power Plate ran out of ideas long ago.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-14 19:34:20
Lisa....

Vibration bike, treadmill etc... all been around for years. Any difference it makes to a workout is so small its not worth mentioning.

Tina...   This site is #3 in the U.K. on Google. It gets more hits than Power Plates home page.

And if you look at the list of individuals on The Blacklist, you will see how effective it has been in shutting them down. Scoff all you like, results are the only thing that counts to me. Your opinion means nothing.

Lisa Posted On:2010-10-14 19:04:23

What are your thoughts on the vibrating bike. Will it work or have you tested this before.I like the idea but am not sure.Regards Lisa

Just read Lloyd’s new article http://www.vibration-training-advice.com/vibration-training-cancer

Providing free articles to educate the public and answer questions is part of the bigger picture of being seen Top in your field.

Correct me if I’m wrong but the U.K. is the home of PowerPlate, right?  So why is this website ranking higher in Google than PowerPlate’s homepage?

If Lloyd Shaw is jealous and that is the reason for his animosity towards some machines. Then why does he write favorably about other products on a website he owns ?
Are they paying him or is he just being honest?

I would really like one of his detractors answer that for me.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2010-10-14 11:58:02
The recumbent bike with superficial vibration attached has been out for years. So has cable weights with vibration attached. John can attest the fact other companies have tested it years ago.

It is actually a shame to see a once pioneering company like Power Plate being forced to copy the Chinese to make a buck. But kind of ironic really seeing as moving the Power Plate factory to China literally gifted the Chinese the designs to make copies with.  Mark Minter had a meeting with me just before he left Power Plate and stated that going into China was the companies biggest single mistake.

I am personally very happy with my companies innovation process , and how we have managed to move this technology forward into the commercial sector......  http://www.vibration-training-advice.com/what-makes-the-worlds-1
