Note how this comment from the older article on this site, is in line with exactly what the new study says...

" Clearly your head receives far more impact while jogging than remaining static in a correct pose on a vibrating platform where you can’t even see a person’s head move. Even standing lock-legged on a platform, which is the worst pose to directly transfer all energy from the plate into the head, comes nowhere close to what we receive when running."

FIVE YEARS OF VIBRATION TRAINING – Here’s the results

Each of the photos was taken impromptu – no special preparation or building up. No lighting or studio preparation and using a simple point and shoot camera.

Very happy to report over 60% of our visits are now from the U.S.

Hot spots are CA, NY and Texas.  Now CA and NY are easily explainable, as they have some awareness being created by sales based companies or Physios using Vibration Training

But the thing about Texas is, I have no idea why we are getting so much attention. It has been steadily climbing for the last 12 months. So any of you Texas people reading this, can you tell us how you got here.

Thanks for fibromyalgia info and Johnny come lately info.  It would be interesting to know if the Johnny come lately is a marketer or academic.  Sometimes these people seem to be both marketers and academics.

Note this comment about a test done on Fibromyalgia sufferers ....

"Another interesting thing was that when given a choice, 10 out of 12 patients picked a vertical vibration machine compared to a pivotal vibration machine. Here we go again with the marketing department shouting that ‘vertical is better than pivotal for fibromyalgia!!!’. Remember, this is a preference. However, our experience shows that both types are beneficial."

Now this is NOT to say one system is better or safer than the other ( as other unethical companies will try to tell you ) . But think about this, the Fibro people were already in pain and not feeling well.  If Lineal feels so horrible.

Why would they choose it ?

If you are looking at buying on Ebay, and considering all the factors you discuss regarding your health, this is the type of unit that I would recommend ....

Take a good look at the design...

The stable side handle bars and frame will allow you to take some weight through your arms when you get to the level of bending at the knees. But for the first little while, you will only be doing the standard Standing  Therapy Pose.

Note:  Machines on Ebay are not always sold by reputable companies. So I can not talk about warranty issues etc...

Hello there,

As someone who is considering the purchase of a whole body vibration excerciser, I would be most grateful for your feedback.

Im a woman whos extremely deconditioned and who has quite a bit of weight to lose. At this stage i would not be able to do any squats or lunges on the machine, the most I would be able to do at this point is bend my knees a bit and balance on the machine. I am also hoping that at least standing on the machine will help with lymphatic drainage and reduce the swelling in my legs.

I have heard about senior citizens and other disabled and deconditioned folks using the machine with good results, but I would really appreciate a frank and honest answer here. Can an obese person obtain any strengthening and weight loss benefit from this machine or am I not a good candidate.

Also have you heard anything good or bad about the "iFit" whole body vibrator,  its a triangular oscillation vibrator with a motor power of 1000 watts. Theyre selling the item on eBay and the auction listing has a ton of info but naturally that doesnt guarantee reputability. I can email you the link to the auction if you want.

Thanks in advance for your help...Im looking forward to beginning a healthier lifestyle but I dont want to get ripped off in the process.

No it is not advised.

It will probably always be a contra-indication because of the delicate nature of pregnancy. No-one would take the legal risk of actually promoting it.

Can you use Vibra Training if you are pregnant

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2011-03-27 20:34:44
Why Vibra-Train exists.

This is what I deal with every week.

It was once acceptable for companies in past years to release machines that larger people could not use. We simply could not fight obesity with either marketing lies or toys. It was why I came down so hard on Power Plate when they sold a machine that dropped function at under the average persons weight. And not tell them.

Vibra-Trains and my sole purpose is to move the industry forward so we can help people who come looking for it..

This from 2 different trades on TradeMe for second hand Power Plates...

" Purchased just over 2 years ago  for $12,375 .
Has literally been used half a dozen times",

" It has only been used 10-15 times since I've had it (just over 2 years). "

You just try tearing a VibroGym , Body-Shaker or better out of someone's hands and see how long you keep your arm.

One of these things is not like the other  : )

It would seem the word " Integrity " will have currency again soon.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2011-03-25 16:30:49
Yes steel plates with I think some fibre-glass skirting.

They have a very good record to date.

Mike Posted On:2011-03-25 15:56:01

Thanks Lloyd,

I just want to be clear. So the Wave machines that are on the website are all steel except for the lowest model. I will be sending back my MY5 and getting the Wave Air Reflex. It is all steel construction and according to the site is rated commercial level. Thanks again for your input and advice.

Di Heap Posted On:2011-03-25 14:50:19

The reason why PowerPlate isn’t taken seriously any more.

Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=955wsGjSLoI

This is NOT Vibration Training – in fact the guy is hardly in contact with the machine

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2011-03-25 14:28:55

First read this......  http://www.vibration-training-advice.com/extra-force-better-training-results

The difference between product force is massive. But even though HG stick closer to that formula, they have a bad rep for durability ( which is the risk an engineer takes for increased power. )

The steel Wave models are a good all round bet, and they will support the product.

Thanks Di Heap,

I dont think I have been mislead but according to all the research that I am rreading on this site it would not be the best thing for me to keep the PowerPlate. I do a ton of static excercises as well as Kettle Bell lifts and I feel that it works well. As far as the Wave I like the fact that it has the Air Reflex feature which I believe Power Plate stole. It also has a much larger platform. The more research that I do the more I see that Power Plate may not be what is advertised. I am in Phoenix AZ but the cost of the classes and the time it would take out of my schedule would not be worth it. I would rather just buy one for home use. The wave that I would be buying is the 2nd to the highest machine they have.  Thanks

Di Heap Posted On:2011-03-25 09:21:02

Mike

Thanks for your questions. I’m sure you’ll get a few replies.

You’ve just purchased a My5 – if you believe you’ve been misled in its performance and the results you were promised then send it back but you also say you do feel benefits so I’m not clear on why you are stressing out.  Take a look at the machine reviews here (which you might have done before you purchased)

http://www.vibration-training-advice.com/machine-reviews

You say you are already in good shape so you are limited with a home machine like the My5.  You will plateau fairly quickly if you are already trained.  You can go longer – work up to 2 minute positions following  the Safety Program here (http://www.vibra-train.com/exercises-bullet.html), making sure your positions are perfect – get someone to spot you and to read out the clear instructions for getting into and maintaining each position.

See the site above - The big Wave machines rate at the high end of Medium Energy Lineal and a Wave home machine is a bit lower (probably the big machines at the conf.)  But...

Where in the world are you? – Your other options include studio training in some places or paying extra for a High Energy Lineal like BodyShaker or a resale VibroGym Professional  or even the big Wave – if you have a suitable place at home to put one of these heavy machines.

Note: If you are training on a lineal, plastic/fibreglass machine with a low or medium energy motor you will have to train longer and harder, using static regular Vibration Training positions, to get anywhere near the sort of results you can get using a High Energy Lineal Machine.

Even going longer is not the same due to the intensity of muscle contraction produced by higher energy models.  Brands like PP get people to also do regular dynamic exercises on the machines using the vibration as an “add-on” – that’s why its termed Acceleration Trainingit is Not True Vibration Training!  You might get strength and fitness benefits with a dynamic program (along with a somewhat added risk of injury with movement) but then how much more benefit you get for your money spent compared with simply performing those same dynamic exercises without vibration is quite individual.  (Personally I’d prefer to go longer and harder with a static program but that’s just opinion).

Never confuse Acceleration Training with True Vibration Training.

The info on Dr Mercola’s site: Some good discussion but people with a differing opinion got banned or black stamped. That’s because they are promoting the PowerPlate for their own profit not because it is the best machine for any individual to use. I have tried the HyperGravity home machine and it didn’t challenge me at all. Their bigger machines had breakdown issues when used in a studio setting.

Mike Posted On:2011-03-25 07:22:43

After some research the Wave Excercise may be the way to go. Looks like they knocked it out of the park at the recent NFL conf. I have a couple of friends that play and they say that Power Plate may be a thing of the past for them. Lloyd do you give the stamp of approval to Wave for home use

Mike Posted On:2011-03-25 05:52:35

Please someone help me with my decision. I just purchased a Power Plate My5. I really do feel the benefits and the difference. After reading all of these posts I am stressing out. Just to be clear I am in pretty good shape and using for a suppliement to my training. I am looking for something comparable to the my 5. I see that Lloyd is reccomending the WaveExercise and in the past spoke highly of the Hypergravity. I am at a loss with all of the research. It is unfortunate that I also have been keeping up with Dr. Mercola as well. My only deduction is that maybe he does not have all of the facts. So what can I use that would be equal or better than the my5

So we are getting a nice rounded representation on the global industry. Some of the companies that have been invited have corporate structures that would not know how to deal with such an offer. So who knows how they will respond. I even sent an invite to Power Plate. Will be interesting to see how they respond being the first company to ever use such a tactic.....

This is what Power Plate were teaching their "advanced trainers" in my country. ( N.Z )

Warning Copy Cat Vibration Machines

......copy cats with no proven research have the possibility to cause injury and the effectiveness of the machine to be questioned. But more importantly could jeopardize the client using it. For example if the calibrations are not correct or the Hz is not perfect or is not calibrated correctly to the timing it can blow your eyeballs out. This is just one examples of the dangers of using a vibration machine that has not been researched or tested accurately......

So this is not a new issue we face, but definitely one I hope together we can make it just not worth it for companies to use.

In a direct response to what we view as some  alarming new marketing tactics, I produced this comment and asked other Vibration Training companies to agree and reproduce wherever possible. As the list grows it will be updated and released in a final version.  If any other company or expert involved in this industry I have not contacted direct, please feel free to do so to be added to the list.

" Even though we are clearly in competition with each other, it is our companies honest opinion that all forms of Vibration Training, Pivotal and Lineal are beneficial and safe for people to use. There is no room for scare-mongering to get sales in our industry "

This industry brings out the true colours in a person – I’m quite sad to report that Dr Mercola, whose opinion I have respected in many areas of health has totally sold out to PowerPlate.

He’s been selling and actively promoting PowerPlate machines for some time, which is his right to, but this year his articles and videos are downright sales pitch and on the forum/comments section of each article people who state an opinion which is in any way opposing or different to his own get “black marked” and a statement is attached to beware of them.

I questioned the integrity of PowerPlate and rather than reply, I have been completely banned from the Mercola Website. Bad move Dr Mercola.  Now we know all you care about is the mighty Sales $

Fit-X was a massive success. We did what we needed to do. .Shake the Australians up and introduce them to commercial, gym quality, vibration training..

Will be there next year with a bigger stand.

Just to let people know:

VIBRA-TRAIN are exhibiting at FitX –Sport and Fitness Expo – MELBOURNE, Australia

This weekend, Saturday March 12th and Sunday March 13th, 2011

There are Vibra-Train machines for you to try out and Lloyd Shaw will be there all weekend to answer your questions.

I bet he’ll issue a challenge to see how long you can last in a “Super Squat” on the machines.

http://www.vibration-training-advice.com/extra-force-better-training-results

Extra Force = Better Training Results

Reading a forum on another site a supposed “expert” in Vibration Training has listed some machines, both pivotal and lineal, which he says have evidence based, tested results. The problem with this is that the testing of lineal machines is often so limited that it’s not much use –

it allows machines to be evidenced as comparable in output (and presumably in the results the user gets in a workout) when they vary markedly in “force”.

See the article for more information

Yes John I have had some interesting feedback regarding the KN article. It seems it has suddenly dawned on some industry people they have been hoodwinked. But these were just salespeople never claiming to be experts.

I know some people will be genuine in their surprise, but others tried far too hard to not have this subject discussed for me ever to think it wasn't a deliberate ploy to mislead the consumer.

Enjoyed the recent articles and videos.  Keep up the great work.
