Lloyd will give you all the info you need in a few hours but I’ll start. What ongoing training did your surgeon or therapist advise
A stationary bike is great for knees as it gets fluid moving around the joint and as long as it’s set up correctly it helps with alignment.Make sure you pedal down and then up with heels pointed down (not your toes) and don’t quite extend your leg straight.
Unfortunately Jazz is misinformed about Vibration Machines.I’m guessing he’s never tried a high force (good) one.You must be in perfect position just as Philippa shows you, in the squat position being careful not to extend your knees forward of your toes and making sure your feet are straight and hip (bone) width apart. Watch that your knees stay in alignment and not coming inward during the time.
For me Vibration Training (on Vibra-Train) machines has sped up recovery.Other very important points are to be very careful when/if you do positions that require you to kneel- get up slowly taking care not to twist your knees. Also lots of care stepping off the machines. Always count to 10 first to allow fatigued leg muscles to recover and so be able to support you.If you step down right away as timer stops your knees take the impact of that step. Also do position 9 Super Squat facing and holding the handlebars – that is, a repeat of position 1. You need the support holding on gives.
After training be careful for an hour or two, don’t run to catch a bus!Your body recovers, repairs and begins to build new muscle fibre.Eat a high protein meal to further help this process.

Hi Jazz
Can you tell us a bit about yourself please. Do you have a studio or run a practice? Can you tell us where if so? Thanks - just good to know from what background your opinion is coming.

Hi Katrina
Good to see you here. Katrina trains with us . We said to come on here to get unbiased advice. She is one of our star vibrators so we dont want to lose her and didnt want her to feel that we were not giving the full story so we said to consult the worlds experts on here. I know Di is knee expert extraordinaire.

Hi Katrina
Can you tell us where you train, the name of the machines you are using? and do you follow Vibra-Trains safety program? You should not be doing the lunge position. http://www.vibra-train.com/exercises-bullet.html
Have you read the article below on precise joint angles?
Hi, I need some advice about Vibration Training and knees. I have been going to VT since July last year and have been absolutely delighted with the results. I have lost more than 16kg in weight and gone from a size 16 to a size 10. My problem is that my knees seem to be crunching very loudly when I crouch or kneel down, or walk up the stairs. When I put my hand over the knee joint I can feel the joint grinding inside. I dont feel pain when I am actually training but the pain kicks in afterwards. When I kneel or crouch right down my knees seem to lock and I feel pain for about 5 minutes but then they are fine again. My knees have always clicked but the grating has only recently started.
I went to see my GP and he told me to stop going to VT as I was damaging my knees even more and would end up needing a knee replacement. I like to think he was just using scare tactics through ignorance.
I had a skiing accident in 1992 and needed surgery as i damaged the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, medial ligament, cartilage and synovial membrane.
Does anyone have any advice as to whether I can carry on using the machines or not, or if there are any alternative positions that would put less pressure through my knees.
The trainers at the studio are fantastic and suggested I see if I can get some more advice from this forum. I really do not want to have to stop.
Thanks
Katrina

I just deleted a bunch of posts that would have been boring and useless to the average reader.
They were simple minded attacks by simple minded dodgy salespeople that hate this site ( and for good reason ) . I would not mind if they were even funny or amusing, but they were just boring. So DELETE .....

The worst companies to date are the US/Canadian T-Zone marketers. And Vibra-Slim ( U.S.) Both continue to lie to the consumer despite knowing the info to be false.
Note the conflicting info...... " Stimulates your muscles 600 times a minute " = 10Hz right ? But it also says "contracts muscles 30 to 60 times a sec " 30 Hz - 60 Hz ????
The fact is these marketers just steal info and specs from completely different systems or other companies marketing material . That is how it all started in the first place. Even the guys at the factories were too uneducated to know the difference. So you have stupid designers selling machines to even stupider marketers. Trust me when I say they are as thick or as dishonest as they come. You choose. Either way you would not want to buy a health product off them.
The situation will be cleared up, but only thanks to those of us who have worked hard to expose it.

Leon...
Yes tests have been done with accelerometers by independent engineers. By 2 companies in Australia I know of.
One was actually selling the machines and changed their advertising accordingly when they found out the "factory" specs were false. I even have a folder of some older adverts with the false specs and now the correct ones.
The only people you will find arguing the point now are dodgy salespeople selling the slower machines with fake specs.

Do you have any proof that these cheaper machines do carry lower hertz as advertised You claim most of them do This is a big call when there must be hundreds of models out there in the world.I think you said 98% of all sales fall into this bracket. Did you do the testing? please give us some proof of this fact. Facts and figures by independent testing is proof, not just you saying so.

To Lloyd and Philippa
Thanks for your candid comments. T Zone wants 1600.00 Canadian for the VT 12 unit. It sounds like I may be well advised to invest a little more in a different direction.
Probably a good starter machine and for the elderly but most people would outgrow it. We have had an issue with this company in the past using false specs to sell the machines. So a good way to tests if the company you are dealing with is trustworthy, is ask for them about them.
The unit only goes up to about 12 hz even though they may state a little more ( top workout models go 27 hz ) And in Pivotal this is a very important difference. If they try to be dishonest about this, walk away. From our experience to date if a company is dishonest on one level, they will also be on others.
But if they are selling it for what it is, and the price is right. Get one.
Yes is the answer! It's not called Whole Body Vibration for nothing! The bowel is also muscle which can be 'worked'! Interestingly people often report improvements in conditions such as IBS, collitus etc after vibration training. Cellulite massage and stretch can be particularly 'stimulating' shall we say! The good news is that people seem to find these issue disappear after a few sessions - so stick with it and be confident that 'No - it's not just you!'.
Hi Ken
Have to say T zone not so good - but good to see you are getting benefits from the machines. However, personally I wouldn't recommend buying one. You would be much better off with a steel machine - BodyShaker or Vibrogym. Although they will ship to Canada may be expensive - email them and see. Think this is why people often end up with the lower- medium energy lineals like T zone and Powerplate etc. Have you looked into what's available on Canada?

I am also using a T Zone machine and have to say, I have lost an incredible 35 pounds since I started using it. No other change to my exercise or diet. Ignore all these idiots here saying vibration machines don't help with weight loss, I am living proof.

I have used a vibration machine for the first time in my life this month and am enjoying same. The business is called T Zone Vibration. Has anyone heard of this business. Do they have quality vibration machines. Where can I find the stats for the machines as they are not on the company site. I would like to buy a unit but like everyone else I dont want to get ripped off.

Phillipa asking a question is not new. In amongst all the bickering perhaps she thought she would use the forum for something constructive, and of course gained your criticism. I know many people who use Lloyd for his knowledge, as do I. There are enough fools on here setting Lloyd up with their ignorance, such as yourself. He doesnt need to put people up to things.
So in other words, we can ask questions if we wish and you can go to another forum and argue where you have a chance of winning. Phillipa isnt pretending to be an expert. And neither am I. The more I learn, the more I realise there is to learn.
Lloyd on the other hand is an expert. If you actually knew him, you would know this. I remember a day when he was asked go on radio, and the station surprised him by having a doctor appear unanounced. Lloyd made her look stupid, she ended up agreeing with 95 percent of what he said and no doctor will take him for the hell of it ever again.
Lloyd on a forum can win these debates, but in person, he would destroy. That is something you have yet to appreciate.

So let me see so far...
We are being criticised for not being a size 8 supermodel. Damn! I forgot to read the part of the training manual that said there was a direct link between knowledge, ability, experience and size. Potatoes in the bin - lettuce leaf at the ready. Next - asking a question to meet changing needs. Again silly me - I didn't know there was a time limit by which time you had to know everything. If only Einstein had known that he might have worked a bit quicker! I'll put a sign up today on the door stating clearly that no new conditions can come in. Then we have building a machine in your bedroom. Oh Lloyd - how could you think of anything so depraved - should think you're still reeling from that attack! Laser cutting under the bedclothes - Oh my! My favourite is Lloyd's ability to jet round round the world in seconds to make the posts under his varous aliases. See - Lloyd it's not only you who thinks you're Superman - they do too. Looking forward to seeing what the next crippling blow will be. Bad hair? Eyes too close together? Mother looks like a horse? Let's see...

No, believe it or not Philippa had not had anybody through before with Parkinson's. And yes she is meant to post all the queries online so everybody can see the answer. Do you think we should keep it secret ?
And I think you will be surprised at the lack of support some Vibration Training companies offer after the sale has gone through. Ask Philippa what kind of answer she would have gotten from HyperGravity ?
Like it or not, this is going to end up to be the top source for info on the net. I took the last site to #1 and that wasn't even laid out well. I have only released about 10% of my work so far, so this will end up a huge library in the future, linked to other sites I am developing.
You have seen nothing yet.

MrFuzz
You're right, I'm overweight. I lost a lot of fat then gained a lot last NZ winter because I over-ate badly, lots of carbs etc.
You see, I am a REAL person, prone to put on weight due to medical factors and over-eating. I'm not a sporty person except for some walking and running races. I am your regular everyday person and I am the overweight person that Vibra-Train machines were initially designed for. Actually I'm not so big but I could have become that way.
Vibration Training on high force machines, and for me specifically on Vibra-Train machines has worked exactly as it was designed to. Even after an accident a year ago which caused me to lose muscle mass (went from 120% down to almost 100% - which is okay but not what I want) I kept my high strength and I've built up to 120% muscle again through a time of personal change and winter illnesses. I no longer have the weight related health problems had 3 years ago.
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to say all this. And you, MrFuzz, what's your condition? Are you Mr Perfect? Do you have a training method so amazing that you read and post on a forum, even when on holiday as I am

Lez, Mr.Fuzz and Colin,
Have any of you actually tried WBV on a decent steel platform? It doesn't sound like you have as if you had you would not be so skeptical about the industry.
I am a 41 year old guy who less than 12 months ago purchased a Bodyshaker machine and have lost app.36lbs of fat. My strength has increased substantially and my mobility and flexibility are greatly enhanced. I do not take part in any other form of training as i am still around the 350lb mark. I researched lots of machines and was lucky enough to try most if not all of the major brands except Vibra-Train as they had no machines in the UK at that time. I must say i was very happy with my purchase of the Bodyshaker and with the results i have got from it but recently i was lucky enough to go to ResonanceVT (run by Phillippa Church) who have Vibra-Train machines. I was warmly welcomed and treated in a caring and professional manner by Phillipa and her staff.
The difference between the Bodyshaker (who i think would be in the top 4-5 brands worldwide) was astonishing no other word could describe it. I can do 60 seconds in all of Lloyds safety program on the Bodyshaker but on the Vibra-Train machine i was suffering at 40 seconds and ready to collapse at 50 seconds and infact had to stop on several of the poses. I am now thinking about training at ResonanceVT full time as i can clearly see the massive difference in the Vibra-Train machines and philosophy and am sure i would have lost a lot more fat by now if i had visited earlier.
I urge you to try a Vibra-Train machine and then come back and tell me your thoughts.

MrFuzz ...
I am a mortician, and I will tell you now. It probably saved Di's life in the long run. Because of her injuries she could do no other form of exercise. Remember when she first came in here it was as a skeptical customer after no-one else could help her.
That is the epitome and definition of success in Vibration Training

These are statements made by SAL MARINELLO ....
WBV shouldn’t be taken seriously.”
“WBV does nothing to improve muscle tone and balance”
“it doesn’t matter what company makes this type of machine, as they are all junk.”
“in an effort to clarify, I think wbv is garbage. the different machines are just different brands of garbage.”
” the fantasy of WBV.”
“WBV is useless “
And this was before he had ever seen or tried it. So what he was really saying is " I don't understand how it could work, so it cant work " He then went around trying to find research that was done on crappy machines to back up his stance. But now with so many other experts stating that Vibration Training is as least as good as resistance training he has backed right off. And he wont answer any questions now leveled at him.
But his comments have been recorded, and will be part of a series of articles I am going to write were people like him are exposed for what they are. Named and shamed as idiots.
