Terry ...

Yes finding an old Power Plate is ideal. They were built in Holland ( same factory as Vibro-Gym now )  but once they moved production to China / India it was all downhill from there.

The only thing that would stop me from getting a VibroGym in the U.S. is lack of support. It really is a European centered brand at present.

The issue you have is the Higher Energy you want, the more engineering issues a company can have. Have you looked at DKN or Wavexercise ( only look at the steel units ) . Not up to VibroGym standards, but they have good records for reliability so far.

Philippa Church Posted On:2011-01-19 10:38:40
Hi Terry, yes vibrogym is a good bet, pro version though not domestic. Hypergravity machines have had big problems with reliabilty, I have personally experienced this, although nice machines when they work.

Wow, read through several pages of this from the old site and new.

It is difficult to sort through all of this.

i live in the USA and would like to purchase a home unit.  Previous to reading this site I was going to purchase a Power Plate Pro.  I have worked out on it with my Pilates instructor.  Her model must be around 5 or 8 yrs old.

I have osteopenia and I would also train on the unit.

Please recommend a unit.  It sounds as if you like the Vibro Gym.  How about the Hypergravity

It is difficult to make a informed decision.  sigh.

Thank you for your assistance

Gary

We constructed a poster with pictures of safety program on Bodyshaker, as a part of our studio concept. I can e-mail you this poster, so you can print it, and use it as training program for your clients. You can send me your e-mail on info@dobrevibracije.hr
But, I have to say, it is hard, if not impossible to learn how to put a client in to a proper position, and how to correct him or her during training only from pictures. You need to see it in practice, and learn it form experienced teacher. Here you are lucky, since you live in same country as Philippa.  Me, I had to travel all the way to London, to see how it is done. Not that I'm complaining. It was a great experience.

Thanks again Philippa

New articles up today....

One takes all the hearsay out of our industries testing and fighting fake specs.....

This one on the dangers of marketing over-hype, and lessons be should learn from recent history......

Gary....

Being the single largest purchaser and placer of VibroGym Pro units to date, I will tell you the Safety Program was first tested on that exact unit. Some of our studios are still running the machines.

Dean Mistura's commercial operation   http://www.dobrevibracije.hr/ run Body-Shakers and the Safety Program which are a similar shape and size.

If you send me an email  lloyd@vibra-train.com  I will see if I can pull up the original pictures of me on the VG doing the poses. But some one-on-one training with Philippa is needed to really understand the precision of this form of training, and gain the confidence to teach it to others.

Gary

I’m glad Phillipa has replied.  Hands on learning is the very best way to go and you are close enough even if you have to take a flight to do it. In studios we are very strict about being perfect position on the machines and we get great results.  I think Instructors learn best how to enforce that strictness and the small points of training through spending a day or two in a studio.

Please read the relevant articles on this website if you haven’t already and get any staff to read them too.

Also watch our instructor training videos on YouTube to get you started. http://www.youtube.com/user/VibraTrain#p/u/7/6fWoFeiPkcY

Hi Di and Philipa, thank you for your prompt replies.  We are located in South Devon, which is roughly 200 miles south of London.

Thanks again, Gary

Philippa Church Posted On:2011-01-18 09:21:22
Hi Gary, without blowing our own trumpet, I don't know of anywhere other than us who offer quality training, certainly in terms of the safety programme. You are most welcome to call me, if you email us, I will send you my mobile number. Where are you?

Di Heap Posted On:2011-01-18 09:09:47

Hi Gary

The best program for a VibroGym Pro is the Vibra-Train Safety Program.

Chart: http://www.vibra-train.com/exercises-bullet.html

Full Step by Step Instructions:  http://www.vibra-train.com/exercises-explained.html

You can contact Phillipa at Resonance Vibration Training in Ampthill, Beds.  She has Vibra-Train machines and I’m sure she’ll help you by phone or if you can visit you’d learn so much in a short time http://www.resonancevt.co.uk/

Note: the Vibra-Train Safety program is Safe and Effective – no random poses or movements. Your gym customers need to be fully supervised so put the VibroGym in a place where that’s possible even when they have learnt how to use it.

You can also email Lloyd Shaw at Vibra-Train in NZ for help (contact email on website) and call at any time for (free) advice and help.

Like you, I cannot recommend the VG distributor but I may have another UK contact also and will reply again when I’ve checked. It would help if we knew where in UK you are.

Gary Posted On:2011-01-18 04:28:30

I am from the UK and have just purchased a VibroGym Pro.  I do not rate their training, do you know of any reputable training companies in the UK before I introduce this machine into my Gym.

Di Heap Posted On:2011-01-17 11:59:29

From the “About” page on the old site that we abandoned:

NOTE: A significant number of articles on this site are contributed by Lloyd Shaw. Lloyd is an acknowledged expert in the field of whole body vibration.

Funny how Lloyd isn’t acknowledged in any articles now and an article has been written trying to debunk his explanations of vibration training.

Their whole limited outlook reminds me of a saying .....

Some people say the glass is half full, others say the glass if half empty. An engineer will say the glass is too big.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2011-01-16 10:02:41
Victoria .....  If you fail to find anything ( I do not believe any hyper gravities are still operational in that area )  Try out a large Power Plate.

They are registered as a Level 0.5 in power, where as High Energy Lineal units tend to start at 2.0 . A properly built High Energy Lineal will also have a smoother vibration.

So you may have to use your imagination a bit.

Victoria Posted On:2011-01-15 19:23:09

We will be in San Diego at the end of January and would like to try out a variety of high energy lineal Vibration Training machines, with a view to purchasing a pro machine. Does anyone on the forum know of any gyms, spas, studios in San Diego that we could call on to try out some machines.

Thank you in advance for any help the forum can provide.

Victoria

P.S. Just heading out to catch a plane and when I return, I will properly introduce myself and share my own VT experience.

Interesting site facts.

The old site we abandoned due to ethical concerns is still getting hits, but approx 76% of its visitors come from India. And almost all global hits are bounces ( people click away very quickly ) .

Where as this site is almost exclusively hit by Australia, U.K. Canada and U.S. ( Only 0.4% of our hits come from India. ) And the average time on the site per viewer is 3min 30sec  with people visiting about 3 pages per visit.

This forum is the most read page on our site.

That means that from the outside vt-net may be doing well ( rankings wise ) , but we getting to our target audience.

I think all wars have had solders who claim to be on the front line but in real life did home guard duty.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2011-01-15 12:07:02
Some History fact ...........

Power Plate filed a 12 point injunction on me in 2005. That covered every major lie they were telling at the time and I was exposing publically ( after private requests had been ignored and meet with aggression ) . The aim was to gag me from releasing any of the information I had.

The independent engineering reports that directly compared Power Plate to VibroGym and Body Shaker ended up killing their case. But it still cost me personally 10s of thousands of dollars. And the whole industry was watching so a failure could have set me back in a number of ways.

Did I ask for help...... hell yes ?

I had asked for months prior to my court case for others to do corroborating tests, from all available brands and academics I knew were heavily involved in research. But not one single person tried to help me. The best I got was a "good luck"  email from some. It was all over the internet so if you had access to a computer, even searching under our industries multiple topics it came up straight away. The industry interest was high because I suppose it looked like I was about to be squashed. Power Plate themselves were heavily promoting the fact they were taking me to court.

I repeat not a single person would sign an affidavit confirming machines were being released onto the market with fake specs.

For anyone to come along now and claim to be even a small part of that discovery and process is verging on intellectual fraud. It is no better than releasing fraudulent specs on a machine in the first place. The people that sat back and let me do all the work, and take all the risk ( both in reputation and financial ) , or the "Johnny come lately"  types that are now miraculously claiming they also did it, but just failed to record it or tell anyone alive ?  are full of it.

The short term gains and misplaced respect they get from these claims, will not serve them well long term.

Ausport.....     Is there something legally that can be done ?

Even if there were it would only be local to that country and only probably reported on once. These people almost rely on people having short memories. We are a global community that can apply constant pressure and education over a very long period of time. Since they are using the international gray area of the internet to make such claims, it is only fitting it is used to expose them.

ausport Posted On:2011-01-15 10:59:36

Isnt there something legally that can be done

That's great. I would really like to know more about how pivotals can be used alongside lineals in a normal studio setting. Have been trying, and failing, to get hold of a quality second hand pivotal for ages.

Lloyd Shaw Vibra-Train Posted On:2011-01-14 19:18:33
This year over half my work is going to be in training and safety guidelines for Pivotal machines. And making sure all studios have decent Pivotal units on the floor working alongside, not in competition with Lineal machines.

That side of the industry has been poorly neglected and seems to be run by "fear of losing a sale" over creating a healthy mature industry.  It has been sad to watch ignorance and greed triumph over common sense, but some standards will be set this year that will change all of that.

I can only apologize for thinking they would ever work together.

I will be working closely with a few existing Pivotal companies to bring like minded industry players together, and form alliances that will speed up our goal of making all forms of Vibration Training a safe and reliable form of exercise.

If he was in just the standing lock-legged position at 25hz,  I would call this an extreme pose and it is very violent on the internal organs. It is possible it may have caused some acid reflux. In that case some anti-acid tablets should calm it down. If the pain continues than he really needs a check-up.

12 hz and under are much less likely to cause these issues, and even just slightly bending the knees will reduce this further.

The chances of it being a hiatal hernia is very slim unless he had an underlying condition.

Dave Posted On:2011-01-14 17:11:00

I have treated a 24 year old patient with no complaints of GI problems on a pivital at about 24 hz for 10 min., just standing, and he developed epigastric pain and later heart burn.  I reduced it to 15 hz for 10 min on the next visit and the epigastic discomfort was less but the heartburn returned.  Is this possibly a hiatal hernia

Bill Posted On:2011-01-14 11:35:37

Lloyd or others, have you heard anything about the Wave Vibration machines

A chiropractor friend just purchased one for training use within his office and I was trying to find reviews of different machines for possible home purchase.  I am concerned because it appears there are a lot of poor quality machines out there and a lot of claims regarding specifications that appear to be false.

WayneCampbell Posted On:2011-01-13 21:48:27

Lloyd, none of the staff at our busy studio recall being asked about the research – interesting question, and as Mike suggests clients can make up their own minds on whether they think it benefits them or not regardless of academics and so called experts.

We have clients who have been coming since our studio opened  6 years ago,  and many more long term clients together with an ever increasing client base.  They are not doing so because of research, they do so because it works for them.

Philippa Church Posted On:2011-01-13 19:50:18
May have been asked once about specific research about a specific condition, Pompei disease, but think that's it in the two and a half years we've been open. Guess UK also not fussed about research.

MikeHair Posted On:2011-01-13 14:52:46

I never get asked that question...

I think after people experience the workout they dont really care what the scientific community think or say.

Your body does not lie to you, i guess like the bodybuilders of old, they kept lifting weights regardless as they knew through experience what they where doing worked.
